Please!! Her watch, diamond earrings and strand of pearls are the basic essentials of most women with which they accessorize MANY outfits. We all have them, maybe real or fake, depends on your disposable income. This country was built on capitalism and ingenuity , so we all have the right to spend our money on what we choose and what we can afford. I know that as my salary has grown I am spending money on things I never would have when I was raising my family, e.g. facial fillers and botox to keep me looking as young as I feel, and that is MY CHOICE. I'm sure many women on this site are doing the same. Jackie Kennedy was the fashion icon of her time, but no one begrudged her for her family money or the sums of money she spent on fashion. Same goes for Lady Di!!!

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Mrs. McCain doesn't look so great at all? The dress color doesn't suit her at all, the eyeliner and lipstick are too dark, the hair's way too light. The whole package looks hard. At least Mrs. Bush wouldn't scare a child.
The fact of what the outfit cost is just sad. Sadly excessive, sadly ostentatious, sadly reinforcing the disparity between the wealthy and the rest of us. At least Mrs Bush looks like she might have a clue what my life is about ( though I doubt she really does).

Ah, envy.

Cindy McCain is not bowing to pressure. She has money (her family make it the hard way -- they worked for it) and she is entitled to spend it any way she chooses.

If I had Cindy's money, I would have purchased her dress in a heartbeat.

Alas, the Democraps would like to redistribute her wealth so we can all look equally frumpy.

As much as I admire Cindy McCain and Laura Bush, I find it hard to justify spending that amount of money on clothes. In all fairness to both of these women, if you're in the limelight and under constant scrutiny, the press can be brutal.

Too bad both of these fine women can't trust their own personal value enough not to bow to these pressures. Any woman can look fantastic and it doesn't have to do with money. Personal style is somethng unique to each of us, trust yourselves ladies! Think of the number of smiles that money could have bought.

This is one more example of how the McCains might be "a bit out of touch" with the average American. Last time I checked, most of us don't own 7 houses or spend this kind of money on clothes.
